A nice wine sauce that goes well with the plum tomatoes

+ by rm at Newark, CA about Uno's Chicago Grill GRILLED MAHI-MAHI WITH MANGO SALSA on March 01, 2009
Coo. From the Uno's Nutrition Information Page:
http://www.unos.com/kiosk/nutritionUnos.html
it looks like this has 120 calories, only 1 gram of fat, no saturated or trans fats. It has a bit of cholestorol, though; but hopefully it's good cholesterol.

by rm at Newark, CA about Uno's Chicago Grill GRILLED MAHI-MAHI WITH MANGO SALSA on March 01, 2009
When I think of Unos the first thing that comes to my mind was always a very filling cheese-filled dish. Nice to see that they have something lighter (and probably healthier).

by rm at Newark, CA about Afghan Village Restaurant Sheer Payra on February 27, 2009
Deliciously seasoned.

+ by rm at Newark, CA about Sergio's Coffee Shop Omelette on June 12, 2008
Best omelette I've had - cooked totally from scratch, fresh right in front of your eyes. Everything from peeling the avocado, slicing the ham & tomato, and cracking the eggs is done in plain sight in the kitchen behind the counter.

The only bad thing about it is that the new owners no longer make it :(. If anyone knows of another restaurant that lets you watch them making the omelet from whole vegetables before your eyes, I'd appreciate it if someone mentioned it in the comments here.

by rm at Redwood City, CA about Dairy Queen Banana Split on June 10, 2008
An incredibly comfortable dessert. Before trying it I would have thought soft serve wouldn't work well in a banana split - but in a way it's even better than normal ice cream because it's easier to get a spoonful with a nice balance of the ice cream and banana and toppings all in one mouthfull.

by rm at Redwood City, CA about Dairy Queen Crispy Chicken Salad on June 10, 2008
I never would have thought of salads when thinking of a dairy queen, but hey, they actually make a good one.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Afghan Village Restaurant Do Piazah on June 09, 2008
A very nice Afghan lamb dish. The onions are notable because they have such a mild and refreshing taste that it's fun to eat a lot of them along with a bite of the very flavorful lamb.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Afghan Village Restaurant Afghan Plate on June 09, 2008
Perhaps my favorite Afghan dish anywhere. I like getting the ground beef (Shami) and meatball (Kofta) options at the same time which give an interesting contrast in the range of Afghan spices for beef. Both are extremely flavorful in quite different ways. The dish is mild but comes with a few fresh (extremely hot) peppers so you can season the hottness to your taste. It's a huge meal, clearly designed to be shared family style.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Afghan Village Restaurant Bolani on June 09, 2008
A fascinating Afghan bread (it really has nothing to do with pasta or pastries despite what the menu says) - made extremely flavorful with the leeks and cilantro and potatoes cooked in the middle.

The half-order that's available makes a great appetizer.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Togo's Avocado & Cucumber Sandwich, Large size on May 16, 2008
Surprisingly (to me) I found this a rather satisfying vegetarian sandwich. Between the whole wheat bread and a decent amount of avocado I sometimes get this when I want something less filling than Togo's very yummy pastrami.

by ron at Fremont, CA about It's A Grind Coffee House Giant sized iced latte on May 16, 2008
Finally found a good quality iced latte that's big enough to be satisfying on a hot day!

by ron at Fremont, CA about El Torito Cadillac Margarita on May 07, 2008
It's very good; but IMHO their normal margarita's are better value per dollar.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Pizza Hut Meat Lover's on March 28, 2008
A disgusting (in a good way) amount of meat on one pizza. Goes well paired with a Vegie Lover's pizza to go with it when you feel too full.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Outback Steakhouse Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes on March 26, 2008
Enough spices (parsley, garlic, salt?, butter?) to make them interesting.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Outback Steakhouse Seared Ahi Tuna on March 26, 2008
Shared this with 6 people this weekend. I thought it was great again - not fishy tasting at all. The 2-year-old in the group said it was "yucky" but wanted more and had an amused look with every bite. Everyone who tried it thought it was a good dish and the black pepper and spices and dipping sauces both worked very well with the tuna.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Marnee Thai Mango With Sticky Rice on March 21, 2008
Very pretty.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Marnee Thai Green Mango Salad on March 21, 2008
A beautiful salad.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Outback Steakhouse Sirloin, Shrimp and Scallops Mixed Grill on March 17, 2008
The scallops were great, the shrimp was good; but the relatively small cut of steak was on the dryer side making it one of my least favorite steaks I've ever had from Outback. Next time I go to outback I'll get a thicker steak which they usually cook better.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Outback Steakhouse Seared Ahi Tuna on March 17, 2008

by ron at Fremont, CA about Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme on March 13, 2008
The soft wrap makes this very convenient for eating on the go compared to tacos.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Taco Bell 1/2 lb. Beef & Potato Burrito on March 13, 2008
Nice and filling. Surprisingly satisfying for fast food.

by ron at Fremont, CA about McDonald's Big N' Tasty Hamburger on March 11, 2008
Not up there with In-n-Out; and I even prefer a Big Mac. The one I got didn't look as nice as this picture. Nutrition information and ingredients can be found on McDonald's website here: http://app.mcdonalds.com/bagamcmeal?process=item&itemID=6009&details=false&imageSize=large

by ron at . about Southern Tsunami Sushi Bar Prosciutto Roll on March 09, 2008
Raw fish always made me feel uneasy; and never really filed me up anyway. But sushi with cheese and Prosciutto! That's something I can enjoy.

by ron at . about Southern Tsunami Sushi Bar Veggie Nigiri on March 09, 2008
A great idea for a sushi place to have vegitarian dishes. Between this and their Chicken Lettuce Tomato Roll you can even bring non-seafood lovers to this sushi place.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Togo's Deluxe Meat & Cheese Tray on March 08, 2008
A nice and convenient party snack.

+ by ron at Fremont, CA about Elephant Bar Restaurant Kona BBQ Pork Ribs on March 06, 2008
A very nice set of ribs with a sauce that's neither too sweet or salty.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Elephant Bar Restaurant New York Steak Sandwich on March 06, 2008
Now this is what a steak sandwich is supposed to be like. A very decent real steak in a sandwich.

by ron at Newark, CA about Chevys Fresh Mex Hand Shaken Margaritas:Prickly Pear on March 06, 2008
Prickly Pear cactus has an interesting flavor that works very well in a margarita.

by ron at Fremont, CA about Chili's Awesome Blossom on March 06, 2008
Oooh I used to love these until I read the nutrition information on these things. 312% your daily fat. 180% your daily saturated fat. 265% of your daily sodium. I still order them when I'm in a large group, tho.

by Ron at Newark, CA about Chevys Fresh Mex Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas on March 05, 2008
Not quite up there with with the Chevy's fajitas; but it's an interesting seafood dish.

by rm about Chili's Grilled Caribbean Salad on March 05, 2008
An interesting tasting salad, and seemingly healthy too.

by RM at Newark, CA about Hometown Buffet Chicken, Traditional Baked - Drumstick on February 28, 2008
The yummiest thing at this restaraunt, in my opinion. Since it's a relatively large chunk of meat the excess salt and oil that I think Hometown Buffet puts on everything doesn't bug me with this dish.

by rm about California Pizza Kitchen Waldorf Chicken Salad on February 14, 2008
Sounds interesting though I haven't tried it. Vinaigrette dressings and Granny Smith apples don't sound to me like they'd go together - nor do candied walnuts and celery. Is this really good?!?

by rm about Buca Di Beppo Chicken Cannelloni on February 01, 2008
I very filling, satisfying dish. If you're very hungry, this should satisfy your hunger.

by rm about Good Earth Planet Burger on October 25, 2007
I actually think this is one of my favorite vegie meals. I think the trick is not to think of it as a burger but as a completely different vegie meal - which is surprisingly yummy.

by rm about Chili's Molten Chocolate Cake on October 20, 2007
One of the richest and most satisfying desserts I've ever tried.

by rm about Chili's Hot Spinach Artichoke Dip on October 10, 2007
This is a yummy dip. Pretty heavy so don't let the spinach trick you into thinking it's good for you.

by rm about Extreme Pizza Peace In The Middle East on August 02, 2007
Tastes totally unlike any other pizza I've had; but makes a great complement to other pizzas if you're ordering many of them for an event. Between this and the mexican pizza also available here you can order a bunch of pizzas and still have some nice variety.

by rm about Extreme Pizza Drag It Through The Garden on August 02, 2007
My favorite vegetarian pizza I've had anywhere.

A surprisingly good pizza for not having any cheese. I had this once just to try something different; and was surprisingly pleased. Melt a bunch of cheese on it and it'd be great.

A very filling dish; the cheese in the Relleno should satisfy even the biggest appetite. Probably the veins in my heart look like the inside of the Chile after eating it, tho.

by rm about Panera Bread Greek Salad on June 29, 2007
A better than average salad in my opinion; with plenty of olives and enough cheese to make it satisfying. There was a lot of dressing, but it wasn't too tart or too rich or anything so this much dressing was a good thing rather than a bad thing.

by rm about Panera Bread Chocolate Raspberry Brownie on June 21, 2007
A great chocolatty brownie underneath - a thick layer of raspberry right over it (not too sweet, and tart enough to be fun on top of the extremely sweet brownie) - and white chocolate to add another layer of sweetness on top. That make a great combination with a wonderful layering of tastes.

by rm about Panera Bread Portobello & Mozzarella on June 20, 2007
More filling than most vegie sandwiches, thanks to the mushrooms and molten cheese. It's a bit oily - can't tell if that's due to the vinaigrette or the molten cheese. But it tastes good.

by rm about Panera Bread Chicken Caesar on June 14, 2007
This sandwich is almost exactly what you would expect from the name. Some lightly seasoned chicken with a fair amount of lettuce and Caesar dressing.

Interesting because it comes with a rich cream sauce inside and the red tomato sauce outside. Very filling.

A nice large calzone - very satisfying for the $7.79. If this is somewhat reminicient of a folded in half pizza (not a bad thing, in my opinion), they also have an Italian calzone that may feel more traditional.

by rm about Outback Steakhouse Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp on April 19, 2007
If you like shrimp, these are yummy. The almost excessive sweet batter makes them fun and makes you thirsty for more beer.

by rm about Outback Steakhouse The Melbourne on April 11, 2007
An excellent filling steak. One nice thing about the local outback is that they're the only chain around that has an idea of what "medium rare" means that matches what I think it means.

Even though it's on the kid menu, this is my favorite dish there. When I go there with my kid we order it and trade meals. It's an adult-sized bowl for a kids dish price. I'm not quite sure what the seasonings are; but sesame seeds, soy sauce, something sweet all seem to be part of it. I've had a couple people working there watch me swap with my kid and mention that they order it form themselves too.

(not sure it deserves 5 stars compared against all dishes; but it's the best kid meal dish I've had)

An interesting flavor for fish, but it works well. Nice to see a fish dish that's reasonably filling.

by rm about Panera Bread I.C. Cappuccino Chip on March 20, 2007
Yummy! Now this is a coffee drink. It's richness (it's largely half&half) puts coffee drinks from all the coffee houses to shame; but you pay for it in fat.
With more that 100% of the daily recommended Saturated Fat
( http://www.panerabread.com/menu/nutrition/profile.php?id=58 ) I don't want to drink these too often; but they can be hard to resist. A bit scary how much fat's in them; but I do give Panera credit for letting us know.

by rm about Pasta Pomodoro Capellini Pomodoro on March 16, 2007
This is a nice light meal. It's my favorite dish there when I'm not very hungry.

The Fajitas are the only reason go back to this place; but oh it's a good reason. A hot (very hot - so much so that if the meat's too rare for your liking you can use the plate to cook it to well-done) loudly sizzling plate makes the plate an impressive impression. And being able to watch the corn tortillas come straight off their tortilla machine makes this dish as fun as it is yummy. If you get it with the (optional?) cheese, it's a quite filling meal.
